From initial consultation to delivery, here is what to expect when you order custom pallets from Albuquerque Pallets.
We start with a conversation about your product, load weights, storage configuration, transportation method, and destination. This information determines the engineering requirements for your custom pallet.
Our team creates a detailed pallet specification including dimensions, board count, board thickness, fastener pattern, and entry configuration. We optimize for your load while minimizing material waste.
For first-time orders, we build a sample pallet for your approval. You can test-fit your product, verify compatibility with your racking and material handling equipment, and request adjustments before production.
Once the design is approved, we manufacture your pallets in our Albuquerque facility. Production lead times depend on quantity and complexity but typically range from 5 to 10 business days.
Every production run is inspected against the approved specification. We verify dimensions, load capacity, fastener integrity, and treatment marking before delivery to your facility.
Our custom pallets support a diverse range of industries with unique handling, safety, and compliance requirements.
Oversized and high-strength pallets for aircraft components, engine parts, and sensitive defense equipment. Custom crating and blocking solutions available.
Clean, contamination-free pallets for pharma warehousing and cold-chain logistics. Available in heat-treated wood or food-grade plastic alternatives.
ISPM-15 compliant pallets for food-grade applications. Heat-treated wood eliminates biological contamination risks while maintaining structural performance.
Heavy-duty pallets for engine blocks, transmissions, and assembled components. Custom blocking and bracing to prevent shifting during transit.
Anti-static and ESD-safe pallet solutions for sensitive electronics. Custom foam inserts and edge protection integrated into the pallet design.
Ventilated pallets with wider board spacing for airflow around perishable goods. Heat-treated options ensure compliance for cross-border agricultural trade.
Custom pallets can be engineered for virtually any load requirement. We design each pallet based on your specific weight, stacking, and handling needs.

Most common, excellent nail-holding, cost-effective. Best for standard-duty applications.
Maximum strength and density. Ideal for heavy-duty and extra-heavy applications where load capacity is critical.
Strong softwood with excellent dimensional stability. Popular in western states for heavy-duty pallets.
Lightweight hardwood that resists splintering. Good choice when minimizing pallet weight is a priority.
Engineered panels for smooth, splinter-free surfaces. Used for pharmaceutical, food, and electronics applications.
Engineered wood panel that offers a smooth, uniform surface at lower cost than plywood. Good for export pallets.
Challenge: Needed 72x60 inch pallets rated for 8,000 lb dynamic loads to ship turbine housings via flatbed truck. Standard pallets were too small and too weak.
Solution: We designed a heavy-duty block pallet using 6x6 hardwood blocks and 1-inch oak deck boards with reinforced center stringers. Custom tie-down cleats were integrated into the design. The customer has been reordering monthly for 3 years.
Result: Zero product damage claims since adoptionChallenge: Standard 48x40 pallets did not fit their keg layout efficiently, leading to wasted truck space and increased freight costs per keg shipped.
Solution: We designed a 44x44 inch pallet with a specific board spacing pattern that nests their kegs perfectly, fitting 20% more kegs per truck load.
Result: 20% reduction in freight cost per kegChallenge: Fragile solar panels required a pallet with integrated edge protection and specific deck board spacing to support panel frames without flexing.
Solution: Custom 52x40 pallet with full-coverage plywood deck, foam-lined rails, and corner protector pockets. Heat-treated for occasional export shipments.
Result: Breakage rate dropped from 3% to under 0.1%Our minimum order for custom pallets is 25 units. This allows us to set up production efficiently while keeping your per-unit cost reasonable. Prototype samples are available in quantities of 1-5.
Standard custom orders ship in 5-10 business days from design approval. Rush orders (3-5 days) are available for an additional fee when material is in stock.
Orders of 100+ units receive tiered volume discounts starting at 10%. Recurring orders with scheduled delivery enjoy additional savings and guaranteed production slots.
Every custom pallet is engineered with precise load ratings, treatment standards, and fastener specifications. Here are the technical parameters we work within.
Dynamic load = weight in motion on a forklift. Static load = weight at rest on the floor. Racking load = weight supported on pallet racking beams with center span unsupported.
Core temperature raised to 56C for 30+ minutes per ISPM-15. Required for all international shipments. Eliminates insects, larvae, and pathogens without chemicals.
Moisture content reduced to 12-19% through controlled kiln exposure. Prevents warping, mold growth, and weight inconsistency. Essential for pharmaceutical and food applications.
All our treatments are chemical-free. We do not use MB fumigation. Our heat treatment process is environmentally safe and meets all modern trade regulations.
Optional proprietary anti-fungal spray applied to all surfaces after construction. Prevents mold and mildew growth during storage and transit in humid conditions.
Intumescent coating available for pallets used in fire-sensitive environments such as data centers, chemical storage, and ammunition depots.
High withdrawal resistance, industry standard for pallet assembly. Threads grip wood fibers and resist pull-out under vibration.
Maximum withdrawal resistance. Rings along the shaft prevent backing out under dynamic loads. Preferred for heavy-duty and racking applications.
Economy option for light-duty and single-use pallets. Lower withdrawal resistance but fast installation and lowest cost per fastener.
Maximum holding power, used for specialty and heavy-duty builds where vibration or extreme loads demand superior fastener retention.
Used for edge-joining boards on deck surfaces. Creates a flush, smooth joint between adjacent deck boards.
Standard nailing pattern: 2-3 nails per board-to-stringer junction. Heavy-duty: 3-4 nails per junction. All nails are pneumatically driven and inspected for depth and alignment.

Our free design consultation will help you determine the most cost-effective solution for your specific application. In many cases, a minor modification to a standard pallet saves 40-60% versus a full custom build while solving the same problem.
Book a Free ConsultationAbsolutely. We offer custom pallets built from reclaimed lumber at a lower cost than virgin wood. Recycled-material pallets are an excellent choice for companies with strong sustainability goals. The reclaimed lumber is inspected and graded to ensure it meets structural requirements for your application.
That is what our consultation process is for. Tell us your product dimensions, weight, how it will be stacked, what handling equipment you use, and where it is going. Our engineering team will recommend the optimal pallet size, construction type, and material based on your specific requirements. There is no cost or obligation for the consultation.
Yes. All custom pallets can be heat-treated to ISPM-15 standards and stamped with the IPPC mark. There is no size limitation on our heat treatment capability. We treat pallets up to 72 inches in any dimension in our certified kiln.
Our standard minimum for custom production is 25 units. However, for prototype or testing purposes, we can produce as few as 1-5 units at a higher per-unit cost. If your long-term volume justifies the custom design, the prototype investment pays for itself quickly.
Yes. Many of our custom pallet customers set up scheduled production and delivery programs. We produce your pallets on a fixed schedule (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) and deliver them to your facility on a set day. This ensures you never run out of pallets and eliminates the need to place repeat orders manually.
Describe your product, load requirements, and desired dimensions. Our team will respond with a detailed quote and timeline, usually within one business day.
