Every year, over 400 million pallets end up in U.S. landfills. We are changing that number -- one pallet at a time. Our zero-waste recycling program recovers 98% of all materials, turning what others discard into valuable resources.

Every pallet that enters our facility gets a second life -- guaranteed.
These are not aspirational goals. These are the real, measurable results of our recycling program, verified annually through independent environmental audits.

The United States uses approximately 2 billion pallets at any given time. Each year, hundreds of millions reach end-of-life. When those pallets go to landfills, they consume enormous volumes of space, leach chemicals into soil and groundwater, and release methane as the wood decomposes anaerobically.
A single standard pallet contains roughly 10 board feet of lumber and weighs between 30 and 70 pounds. Multiply that by the millions discarded annually, and the scale of the waste becomes staggering -- billions of pounds of usable wood, plus thousands of tons of metal fasteners, all discarded unnecessarily.
In New Mexico alone, construction and industrial wood waste represents a significant percentage of landfill volume. Our mission is to drive that number as close to zero as possible by giving every pallet a second life or a responsible end.
Enough wood to build a small shelf or repair two other pallets.
Methane from anaerobic decomposition is 80x worse than CO2 over 20 years.
Pallets are bulky and resist compaction, consuming disproportionate landfill volume.
The energy used to harvest, mill, transport, and assemble the pallet is completely wasted.
According to the EPA, wood pallets and packaging make up approximately 8.1% of all municipal solid waste in the United States. That translates to over 20 million tons of wood waste entering landfills every year. In New Mexico, the problem is compounded by limited landfill capacity and the high cost of waste disposal in arid climates.
Our recycling program directly addresses this challenge. In the last 12 months alone, we have processed over 180,000 individual pallets -- that is roughly 2,100 tons of wood material that would have otherwise occupied approximately 12,600 cubic yards of landfill space. When you factor in the methane emissions avoided (wood decomposing anaerobically in landfills generates methane, a greenhouse gas 80 times more potent than CO2 over a 20-year period), the climate benefit is significant.
Every ton of wood we recycle rather than landfill prevents approximately 0.43 tons of CO2-equivalent emissions. Our annual total: over 900 tons of CO2-equivalent avoided. That is the equivalent of taking 195 passenger vehicles off the road for an entire year.

Recycling pallets saves more than just trees. The ripple effects extend to water conservation, energy savings, and reduced transportation emissions.
1.2M gallons
Manufacturing new pallets from virgin timber requires significant water for logging, milling, and processing. Recycling bypasses all of that. Each recycled pallet saves roughly 6.5 gallons of water compared to producing a new one from scratch.
5.8M kWh
From harvesting timber to kiln-drying lumber to assembling finished pallets, manufacturing is energy-intensive. Repairing and recycling a pallet uses approximately 70% less energy than building one new. Across our annual volume, that adds up to millions of kilowatt-hours.
4,500+
The average pallet requires wood from roughly 0.025 trees. When multiplied across the 180,000+ pallets we recycle annually, that translates to over 4,500 trees that remain standing -- filtering air, sequestering carbon, and supporting ecosystems.
15,000 gal
Transporting virgin timber from forests to mills to pallet factories burns diesel fuel. Our local recycling loop eliminates most of that supply chain. We estimate a savings of 15,000 gallons of diesel fuel annually by keeping materials local.
Our five-step process ensures that no material goes to waste. Every nail, every board, every ounce of sawdust is recovered and given a new purpose.
We pick up used, damaged, or unwanted pallets from your location at no cost. Our fleet covers the entire Albuquerque metro area and beyond. Scheduled recurring pickups are available for high-volume businesses.
Every pallet is individually inspected and sorted into categories: repairable, reusable as-is, or recyclable. This triple-sort process ensures that nothing is wasted and every piece of wood finds its highest-value use.
Pallets destined for recycling are carefully dismantled. Reusable boards are separated for repair stock. Nails and fasteners are collected for metal recycling. Even sawdust is captured and repurposed.
Recovered lumber becomes raw material for repaired pallets, mulch, animal bedding, biomass fuel, or landscaping products. Metal fasteners go to local scrap recyclers. Nothing leaves our facility as waste.
All recycled materials meet quality standards. Repaired pallets pass a multi-point inspection. We provide sustainability certificates and waste diversion reports to clients who need them for ESG reporting.
Every component of a recycled pallet finds a new home. Here is the breakdown of where materials go after processing.
Usable boards are integrated into our repair program, giving pallets a second or third life in the supply chain.
Wood that cannot be reused structurally is ground into premium mulch, sold to landscaping companies and garden centers across New Mexico.
Smaller wood fragments and sawdust become biomass fuel pellets, providing renewable energy as an alternative to fossil fuels.
Clean, untreated wood shavings are processed into animal bedding for farms, stables, and pet supply distributors throughout the region.
Nails, staples, and metal brackets are separated and sent to local scrap metal recyclers, closing the loop on every material in the pallet.
Joining our recycling program is free and effortless. We provide the pickup, the labor, and the transportation. You just need to set aside your used pallets and let us know when you have a load ready.
For businesses generating large volumes of pallet waste, we offer scheduled recurring pickups -- weekly, biweekly, or monthly. We can even provide a collection trailer at your facility for high-volume operations, swapping it out on a regular rotation.
Call, email, or fill out the form above. Tell us your location, approximate pallet count, and preferred schedule.
For first-time pickups, we do an initial site visit to determine the best collection approach for your facility.
We set up a recurring schedule that works for you. Pickups happen like clockwork with minimal disruption.
Receive quarterly reports showing how many pallets you recycled, tons diverted, and equivalent trees saved.
We are committed to ensuring that no pallet material ever reaches a landfill. Every board, every nail, every ounce of sawdust is recovered, repurposed, or recycled into something useful. This is not a marketing claim -- it is a measurable commitment verified by independent environmental auditors.
When you recycle with Albuquerque Pallets, you are not just disposing of unwanted wood. You are actively participating in a circular economy that conserves natural resources, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, and creates local jobs in the green economy.
Recycling is not just good for the environment -- it makes strong financial sense for businesses of every size.
Pallets take up significant dumpster space and are heavy, driving up waste hauling fees. By diverting pallets to our free recycling program, businesses typically save $200-$500 per month on waste disposal costs alone. For high-volume operations, savings can exceed $2,000 monthly.
Pallets in reusable or repairable condition are not waste -- they are inventory. Our buyback program pays fair market value for quality used pallets. Some of our regular sellers generate $500-$3,000 per month in revenue from pallets that were previously costing them money to dispose of.
Consumers and B2B buyers increasingly favor companies with demonstrated sustainability practices. Our recycling certificates and waste diversion reports give you documented proof of environmental responsibility for your marketing materials, investor presentations, and regulatory compliance.
We have designed our collection program to require zero effort from your team. Here is exactly how the logistics work.
Call or submit a form when you have a load ready. We dispatch a truck within 24-48 hours for metro locations. No appointment needed -- just stack your pallets in an accessible area and let us know they are ready. Our drivers handle all loading.
For businesses generating 50 or more pallets per week, we set up automatic pickups on a schedule that fits your operations -- weekly, biweekly, or monthly. You never need to call. We show up like clockwork.
High-volume generators (200+ pallets per month) can request a dedicated collection trailer stationed at your facility. Load pallets at your convenience. When the trailer is full, we swap it with an empty one. No scheduling, no waiting.
If your business generates fewer pallets, we can add you to a route that services multiple businesses in your area. This keeps pickup efficient and ensures even small-volume generators can participate in the recycling program.
This table shows the cumulative environmental impact of recycling 500 pallets per month -- a typical volume for a mid-size Albuquerque distribution center.
